NTC Thermistor based digital fever thermometers have replaced glass thermometers as the most widely used method for measuring human body temperature. The reusable probe has a plastic or metal shaft with a metal tip. The thermistor sensor is located in the tip.

The IR thermopile sensor is used for non-contact surface temperature measuring. It is a voltage generating device and shows a stable response to DC radiation.
